☀️ Make the Most of Summer in Eugene

Summer in Eugene is its own kind of magic. Long sunny evenings, wildflowers in bloom, and plenty of opportunities to get outside and make memories with your littles.

As both a mom and a photographer, I’m always on the lookout for simple, joy-filled ways to spend our days. Here’s a roundup of our favorite family adventures—all within about an hour of Eugene!

💦 Pool Days (Our Summer Staple)

Echo Hollow Pool
This neighborhood favorite in Bethel is just a quick drive for us and so family-friendly. With a shallow area and easy parking, it’s a go-to for spontaneous swim days.

Amazon Pool
In South Eugene, Amazon Pool is bigger and has a waterslide, diving boards, and snack bar (yes, you can grab lunch and a treat while you’re there!).

Other Eugene-area pools to check out:
* Sheldon Pool
* Willamalane Pool – Springfield
* Swim Eugene at Churchill

We tend to visit Echo Hollow and Amazon most often—convenience and kid-friendly vibes win every time.

🌊 Splash Pad Adventures

Washington Park Splash Pad
A great go-to for toddlers and younger kiddos. Pack a change of clothes, sunscreen, and snacks—trust me.

Other splash pad spots to try:
* Oakmont Park
* Skinner Butte Park
* Fairmount Park

🍧 Treat Break: SweetBay Shave Ice

SweetBay Shave Ice
This colorful shave ice truck is a summer highlight! They serve traditional flavors, plus dye-free and sugar-free options. We stop by regularly (because kids… and let’s be honest, parents too).

🥾 Morning Hikes for the Whole Family

Mount Pisgah Arboretum
A perfect spot for stroller-friendly trails, creek exploring, and forest adventures. Go before 10 AM for cooler temps and better moods (we all know how those post-nap outings can go 😅).

Spirit Falls – Cottage Grove
A short drive and a short hike = 3 stunning waterfalls! Pack snacks, water shoes, and prepare for a little magic.

♨️ Soak in McCredie Hot Springs

McCredie Hot Springs (via Hwy 58)
About an hour from Eugene, these rustic mineral springs feel like a hidden gem. Early morning or weekday visits are ideal for a quieter experience.

🌬️ When the Smoke Rolls In: Quick Trip to the Coast

When it inevitably gets smoky from wildfires later in the summer, we love to take a spontaneous day trip to the coast. Florence, Oregon is just under an hour from Eugene, and it’s the perfect breath of fresh (salty) air. Whether it’s digging toes in the sand, walking the boardwalk, or grabbing fish and chips—we always leave feeling recharged.

🌈 Tips for Enjoying Summer with Littles

Want your outings to go a little smoother? Here are a few simple tips that make a big difference:

  • Keep a towel and extra clothes in the car at all times. You’ll thank yourself.
  • Bring snacks. All the snacks. No such thing as too many.
  • Go early. Beat the heat and the crowds while kids are in their best mood.
  • Embrace the chaos. Some of the best memories come from unplanned, imperfect moments.
